The idea for this photographic series came to me long before I took the first shot. Knocked down animals enter some kind of interspace and they are only noticed marginally. I wanted to take them out of this periphery and highlight them instead. I wanted to give them a stage and maybe force the audience to take a closer look at them. I think there is an exciting development of aesthetic quality which you would not expect from the body of roadkill, it is somehow inconsistent.
220.000 deer are run over every year in Germany alone. Therefore every road user is an accomplice and an addressee.
